After a second attempt, it loaded the installer but the VM hanged during the language selection page of the installer. I had to force a shutdown, and the VM could no longer boot.

Could not copy or paste between host and vm with just selection + middle mouse wheel/button, but copy and paste works in both directions with selected text, Control-C, Control-V.
