Fedora is running NATed to my home network.
Suggest we document how to have the WSL Fedora have an address on the main network.
2. I install by Barry's Emacs and both the GUI and CLI versions just-work. 3. Added %userprofile%\.wslconfig with [wsl2] networkingMode=mirrored Now the Fedora VM is sharing the Windows 11 network which gives be IPv4 and IPv6 usable addresses. |

Firefox didn't show Fedora Start page at first. It started with the Firefox Setup Wizard but once I closed and re-opened Firefox, the start page appeared. The two other tests passed with no comments.

Firefox has shown the https://fedoraproject.org/start page, the second time I executed it. The first time it shows a firefox welcome wizard or something similar

Installed Fedora from tar.gz package. I did a dnf upgrade --refresh which installed new versions of systemd stuff. I exited Fedora and terminated it in WSL. I started Fedora again from WSL and it
started without a problem. I installed htop as a test. It installed and ran without a problem.

All steps worked fine, except for step 7: X11 app Firefox didn't launch correctly. It creates an empty, transperant window on the desktop but doesn't show anything else.
2. Tested vscode in WSL workflow for python and c++ projects. Everything works as expected |

2. I was able to work around the cgroup v2 warning in podman by following https://stackoverflow.com/a/73376219 3. #2346202, Flatpak seems to work on amd64 and aarch64, but requires `sudo` for installation unlike Fedora Workstation installs |

id -u returns user id, not username
2. `podman run --rm -it -p 8080:80 nginx` correctly runs the nginx container and I can visit `localhost:8080` on the windows host and see the nginx test page. When launching the container I get a warning about using cgroups-v1 which is deprecated. `podman run --rm -it -p 80:80 nginx` correctly tells me `Failed to bind port 80 (Permission denied) for option '-t 80-80:80-80', exiting`. `sudo podman run --rm -it -p 80:80 nginx` does not give a nice error message. It breaks the terminal with a repeating message of `internal:0:0-0: Error: Could not process rule: No such file or directory` |

2. On first time setup, I am asked to provide a linux user name but I am not asked to setup its password. I need to run "wsl -u root -d Fedora" and then "passwd $USER" 3. At times I can get this issue: https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/issues/8843 but I cannot reproduce consistently. 4. - Run successfully a rhel vm in qemu - Installed my dotfiles successfully via chezmoi (was missing git and developments-tools group) - Could use files via brew as well as mise - Successfully created a test k8s cluster using kind - Successfully installed wslu and tested wslfecth - Could attach USBdevice (yubuikey) via usbipd |
